Zohran Mamdani has added fuel to the buzz surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s rumoured wedding.
The New York City Mayor cheekily referenced the superstar couple while warning residents about a scorching heatwave.
During a press conference on the city’s extreme weather conditions, the 34-year-old was asked whether New Yorkers should brace for road closures if the reported Madison Square Garden wedding goes ahead later this week.
Rather than confirming or denying the speculation, Mamdani leaned into the excitement with a smile.
“My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool,” he joked.
“And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool. I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large.”
The playful comments didn’t stop there.
In a video shared on social media, the mayor again teased the rumoured ceremony while urging people to take the dangerous temperatures seriously.
“Especially if you’re celebrating the World Cup or the Fourth of July, or renting out MSG to get married, hypothetically,” he quipped.
He warned that temperatures could soar to 100°F, with the heat index making it feel closer to 112°F.
Mamdani has also previously mentioned Swift and Kelce while discussing the city’s packed summer schedule, joking that New York is preparing to host everything from the FIFA World Cup festivities and Independence Day celebrations to what many fans are calling the celebrity wedding of the year.
Despite his repeated tongue-in-cheek remarks, neither the Lover singer nor the NFL star has confirmed the much-talked-about wedding plans.
