Charli XCX has opened up about her experience with competitive jealousy as she recalled a memory.

The American singer, who is ready to drop new album, Music, Fashion, Film, is being transparent about how she feels towards other artists.

Talking to Bella Freud on her Fashion Neurosis podcast, when asked if she gets jealous of seeing other artist's work, she admitted, "Yeah, obviously, of course."

Charli stated, "I think I’ve said this to Lorde before - I was so jealous when I heard Royals for the first time, which is now funny because there's this whole meme of like everybody's always yelling at me, 'Sing Royals!"

She added, "But, yeah, when I was younger, and I heard that song, I was like, 'I’m so jealous. I wish that I could have written that song."

The 33-year-old went on to praise the song in question, calling it "spectacular, unique" and a song that "defined time."

It is to be noted that the actress is currently working on her comeback as her seventh studio album is scheduled for a release on July 24, 2026.
