Heather McComb, the ex-wife of late actor James Van Der Beek, is reflecting on love, loss, and new beginnings after quietly remarrying months after the Dawson’s Creek star’s death at age 48.

McComb recently tied the knot with actor Scott Michael Campbell in an intimate outdoor ceremony held in Missoula, Montana, surrounded by close friends and family.

The wedding, described as deeply personal and faith-filled, marked a significant new chapter in her life following a difficult year of grief and transition.

According to Daily Mail, in recent remarks, McComb shared that Van Der Beek—whom she was married to from 2003 to 2010—had given his blessing to her relationship before his passing.

She said the moment held deep emotional significance for her, noting that their connection, though changed over the years, remained rooted in mutual respect and care.

Moreover, the actress also reflected on the emotional complexity of moving forward after loss, acknowledging both the sadness of Van Der Beek’s death and the comfort she has found in support from family and loved ones.

As per the outlet, she described her wedding day as unexpectedly peaceful, saying she felt surrounded by symbolic moments that reminded her of those she has lost.

Van Der Beek, best known for his breakout role in Dawson’s Creek, died in February 2026 after a battle with colorectal cancer.

His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, friends, and family, with McComb among those who publicly honored his memory.

Despite the grief surrounding his passing, McComb emphasized that life continues in new directions.

Furthermore, her marriage to Campbell, she said, represents not a replacement of the past, but a continuation of it—carrying forward love, memory, and acceptance into a new phase of life.
