Maya Hawke recently opened up about learning life-changing remedies from her mother Uma Thurman.
The Stranger Things star spoke on NPR’s Wild Card with Rachel Martin and shared that she learned “witch-adjacent” remedies from her mom during childhood
“My mother really taught me to love and respect nature … like herbal remedies to things,” said the 27-year-old.
Maya, who’s a daughter of Uma and Ethan Hawke, went on saying, “It’s sort of like ‘witch-adjacent.’ It’s not toil and trouble, but it’s wickenary.”
Recalling her childhood, the actress mentioned that whenever she got a cold, Uma would make her pineapple skin tea.
“Because the enzymes in the pineapple skin is good to get rid of a cold,” explained Maya.
Elsewhere in the interview, the actress further said that her dad Ethan “is magic in a different way”.
Describing the Hollywood icon as “a magical thinker,” Maya pointed out that he’s not “witchy” but he “used to do like treasure hunts for me when I was a kid”.
“He’s crafty and magical, but he’s not witchy,” she added.
For the unversed, Maya grew up between Manhattan and Upstate New York.
