JoJo Siwa has revealed she’s been having a rough time after suffering both a concussion and a nasty eye infection, leaving her needing to slow down and take things day by day.
The 23-year-old Dance Moms star shared an update with fans on Instagram, posting a Reel in which she appeared wearing a black eye patch while explaining what had happened.
“Things aren’t going too well,” she admitted, before showing photos of her swollen, infected eye and adding, “Hopefully it’s on the mend in the next few days.”
JoJo went on to explain that her health scare began after a serious accident involving a golf cart.
She said the vehicle’s wheel locked unexpectedly, causing it to spin out of control and throw her off.
The impact saw her land heavily on her neck before hitting her head, which later resulted in a concussion.
The incident reportedly took place on May 25.
Just a couple of days afterwards, she developed the eye infection, which she stressed doctors believe is unrelated but “gnarly” nonetheless.
She revealed she had seen multiple doctors and is now on a careful recovery plan, limiting herself to around an hour of light activity at a time.
Despite the setbacks, the Blurt actress insisted she’s staying positive, telling fans she feels “very lucky” given what could have happened.
She joked that she’s a “mess” but reassured everyone: “I’m gonna be fine. It’s just going to take a while.”
Even with her recovery, she’s still been dipping into work and preparing for Dance Moms: A New Era rehearsals, joking that sunglasses might become her new normal.
On a happier note, JoJo recently celebrated her one-year anniversary with boyfriend Chris Hughes.
