Hannah Murray is opening up about how she ended up in a wellness cult, which resulted in her being hospitalised.

The Game of Thrones alum revealed that she was filming the 2017 film Detroit, which has dark subject matter, when she came across an energy healer.

In a cover story with The Guardian, the Skins actress revealed that she began opening up to the woman about the struggles she was facing while filming, her personal life issues and her “core sadness” which the healer used to her advantage.

Hannah added in her memoir of the organisation she was eventually roped into, The Make-Believe: A Memoir of Magic and Madness, “The pyramid was structured to exploit everyone who tried to climb it. Except for one person, one man, who sat at the very top.”

The God help the Girl actress went on to detail that during a five-day course in London her behaviour became erratic and that she began experiencing hallucinations and delusions.

Hannah’s mental health then worsened with episodes of mania and paranoia and she had to eventually be detained for 28 days under the Mental Health Act.

Eventually, the 36-year-old got diagnosed with bipolar disorder and noted that things made more sense since and that she felt relief over being able to understand and name her complex emotions.
