Bruce Dern, who is known for his work in the 90s, recently recalled how the loss of his first daughter, Diane Elizabeth Dern, made him feel.
Recalling the tragic incident in his new documentary, Dernsie: The Amazing Life of Bruce Dern, he described the event as one he will never forget.
Notably, the American actor is father to Jurassic Park star, Laura Dern and also had a daughter, who passed away at the age of 18-months-old.
He stated, "My wife was at a Dodgers game; I was at a track meet at the Coliseum, some plainclothes cop said to me, 'Are you Bruce Dern?' And I said 'Yes,' and he said, 'You should go home right now, because your child just drowned in a swimming pool.'"
The 89-year-old continued, "So I go home. I went into the bedroom, and I looked at the little girl on the bed, and It's the only time in my life, I think, that it broke my heart."
He added, "I felt ashamed that it was on my watch. I never got over it. You never get over it."
It is to be noted that it was revealed that the little baby passed away after she snuck away into the family's pool despite being looked over by the maid.
It was also disclosed that she used a spoon to unlock the gate to the pool as it was secured.
For the unversed, Bruce had her both biological daughters with his second wife, Diane Ladd, who was also a famous Hollywood actress.
