Britney Spears recently pleaded guilty to reckless driving in DUI charges on May 4.

The Toxic singer wasn’t required to attend the Ventura County court in person and she was represented by her lawyer Michael A. Goldstein.

According to CBS News, Britney reportedly agreed to a plea known as “wet reckless,” which allows a defendant to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs.

Under this deal, the prosecutors said in a statement that the “defendant is placed on probation for 12 months, receives credit for any time spent in custody, is required to complete a DUI class, and must pay state-mandated fines and fees”.

It is pertinent to note that the deal, offered by Ventura County prosecutors, typically applies to “defendants without a prior DUI history and a low blood-alcohol level in an incident that does not involve a crash or injury”.

Meanwhile, the singer’s attorney speaks up after the singer’s plea, adding, “Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct.”

“She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney's decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI,” stated Britney’s lawyer.

Moreover, this pleas will allow the singer to “avoid jail after she was charged with a misdemeanour of driving under the influence” following her arrest on March 4.

pleaded guilty to irresponsible driving on Monday, a lesser charge that will allow her to avoid jail after she was charged with a misdemeanor of driving under the influence following her arrest in March.
