Promoter Goldenvoice is facing a significant financial hit following curfew breaches during the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The city officials in Indio confirmed that performances by Justin Bieber and Anyma ran past the mandated 1:00 a.m. cutoff, triggering penalties under the festival’s operating agreement.
While the opening weekend reportedly adhered to all timing restrictions, the second weekend saw two nights of overruns, according to an initial report from TMZ.
The penalties increased fast, with Anyma’s April 17 performance running late and bringing a $24,000 fine. Bieber’s April 18 set also went over time, adding $20,000 more.
The festival follows strict curfew rules set by local authorities, shows must end by 1:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and by midnight on Sundays.
However, if the curfew is missed by more than five minutes, there is a $20,000 fine, with extra charges for longer delays.
