Mariah Carey reflects on ‘unusual’ moment with Rihanna

Mariah Carey has revealed that she knew Rihanna from when the singer was only a teenager and how their relationship evolved.

The My All singer also dished on a moment between her and the Breakin’ Dishes singer from her concert in 2024, with the latter showing up as a super fan.

In the recent cover story with W magazine, which the mother-of-three appeared on with her six-month-old baby girl Rocki, who she shares with rapper ASAP Rocky, in which the 57-year-old answered some questions about the former.

Mariah dished of her first time meeting Rihanna, “I was introduced to Rihanna when she was about 17 years old, by our mutual friend Jay-Z. She was just getting started, and I had a feeling she was going to be a major star. She’s a real girl’s girl.”

The 57-year-old was also asked about what it’s like to have the Ocean’s 8 actress at her shows, and about an unforgettable moment from a 2024 show in which the former signed the latter’s chest.

“She brings such great energy! The chest-signing moment was a li’l out of the ordinary, but I thought it was hilarious!” Mariah stated.

Notably, fans have dug up a clip of the moment in which Rihanna appeared to be fan-girling and gushing over the Obsessed singer.
