Eva Longoria reflects on her interesting journey to Hollywood
American actress opens up about her challenges she faced at the start of her career
Eva Longoria recently reflected on her early years in Los Angeles and the decision she made soon after arriving in California.
Prior to becoming a multimillionaire TV star, Eva rejected the idea of waiting for auditions like other stars and doing odd jobs like waiting tables or crashing a friend’s couch.
Inteasd, she tried to build her career in corporate recruiting while auditioning and filming television roles.
“The first day I landed in LA, I got a job… I was like, ‘I’m not going to be a struggling actor. I’m going to figure this out,” said the actress in a new interview with Fortune magazine.
The Desperate Housewives actress recalled that she was “doing the headhunting” in her dressing room and negotiating 401(k)s and salaries as well as interviewing and reading résumés and placing people, everything she used to do on a set.
Eva told the outlet that she was getting more money from recruiting job than her acting career, which is why, she kept the job for years.
It was when she reached the third year on the soap opera, when the actress got a raise in her payment and then she decided to let go of her corporate headhunting job.
However, Eva added that she knew she could “always go back to corporate America if acting didn’t work out”.
