Sabrina Carpenter is facing backlash online after a moment during her Coachella 2026 opening set sparked accusations of cultural insensitivity, with some fans even calling to “cancel” her following the incident.

During her Friday, April 10 performance at Coachella’s opening day, the songstress made her headlining debut with a high energy set featuring tracks like House Tour, Taste, and Tears.

The singer transformed the stage into Sabrinawood, styled after the iconic Hollywood sign, as part of her performance theme.

Following this, the attention shifted to a brief interaction with a fan that unfolded during the performance.

She remarked it sounded like yodeling, then glanced at the audience member and questioned if they were doing it.

After the response, she added, "I don't like it." When the fan explained it was a "part of their culture," she questioned, "That's your culture, yodeling? Is this Burning Man [festival] what's going on? This is weird" before continuing the performance.

The clip quickly spread online, drawing heavy criticism from viewers who felt the comment was dismissive and insensitive.

Taking to X, users reacted strongly, with one writing, "They finna cancel Sabrina for her saying she don’t like that yodeling s--t I'm already knowing."

Others clarified the sound was not yodeling but an Arabic ululation, with one saying, "Sabrina Carpenter is so ignorant, someone was doing a zaghroot (an arab cheer), and she called it yodelling..."

Another added, "Sabrina Carpenter mocking a zaghrouta as 'yodeling'..." while criticism continued across social media platforms.
