Meghan Trainor has revealed she was left in tears after facing a wave of online criticism over using a surrogate to welcome her third child.
The 32-year-old pop star and her husband Daryl Sabara became parents to baby girl Mikey Moon in January.
But what should have been a joyful moment was quickly overshadowed by social media backlash.
Speaking on the Not Gonna Lie podcast, Meghan admitted she anticipated the reaction before it even happened.
After previously dealing with harsh comments about her changing appearance after her weight-loss journey, she said she already expected negativity to follow her family news.
She explained that she chose not to read the comments, but still felt the emotional impact.
The Me Too singer said she spent nights crying and worrying about how people would judge her daughter in the future because of the way she was born.
Meghan also shared that the decision to use a surrogate came after serious health concerns.
The songstress revealed that she had been struggling and feared she was heading towards an autoimmune condition.
After long discussions with her husband, the couple decided surrogacy was the safest option for their growing family.
Despite the online noise, Dear Future Husband hitmaker said she was surrounded by strong support from her inner circle, including her therapist and her husband, who stood firmly by her side throughout the process.
The couple, who married in 2018, are already parents to sons Riley, five, and Barry, two.
When they announced Mikey Moon’s arrival on social media in January, they expressed overwhelming gratitude to their surrogate, calling her incredible and sharing their excitement at finally welcoming their baby girl into the world.
