Harrison Ford has made a deeply personal confession about battling depression long before he became a global superstar.
The 83-year-old icon, known for blockbuster hits like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, has revealed he once struggled to even step into a classroom during his younger years.
Speaking candidly on the Awards Chatter podcast, Harrison admitted he was at his lowest point before enrolling in a drama course.
“I was more than depressed. I think I was ill… socially and psychologically not well,” he shared.
In a heartbreaking revelation, he described how he would often walk to class, only to touch the door and turn back without going inside.
But it was acting that ultimately saved him.
The Hollywood legend explained that joining the drama programme changed everything, as he found himself surrounded by people he once considered “misfits”, only to realise they were some of the most fascinating minds he’d ever encountered.
“I simply found my place amongst storytellers,” he said, crediting the experience with transforming his life completely.
Meanwhile, his Captain America: Brave New World co-star Anthony Mackie has shared a lighter insight into working with the screen legend and it’s not what you’d expect.
Despite Harrison’s larger-than-life reputation, Anthony revealed he was shocked by just how down-to-earth he is.
“He’d just come and chill with us like a regular person,” he laughed, recalling how the star would happily sit with cast and crew, tucking into simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
