Kevin Nealon has shared some advice with the cast members of Saturday Night Live.
This was a result of the recent character breakout during the show sketches, breaking refers to laughing or smiling while executing the scenes.
In a statement shared to X on March 24, the veteran star penned, "I never broke character on SNL."
Continuing, "I knew how much time the writers put into those scripts. You don’t want to be the one who throws it off."
Moreover, he noted, "Lorne [Michaels] doesn’t like when the cast breaks. Even if the audience laughs, it doesn't work for the sketch."
Recently, there were multiple sketches where performers were seen losing out to the character.
Notably, the famous Passing Notes sketch featuring Ryan Gosling was intentioned and part of the script.
A few were the actual scenarios like Lisa from Temecula in 2023 and Beavis and Butt-Head sketch in 2024.
Heidi Gardner lost to the American teen-adult animated sitcom characters sitting in the audience causing a snowball effect among other performers.
The American comedian and actor revealed the reason why he was let go off the famous late-night show.
One of the reasons he shared was that in 1994, Entertainment Weekly shared an article suggesting he was "still stumbling over his punch lines after four seasons."
Author Susan Morrison wrote in her book, “The network felt the same way and were ready to meddle.”
“Nealon was a superb sketch player, but there was a sense that, on Update, he was a mushmouth, his delivery not crisp enough.”
Meanwhile, Nealon noted he was writing sketches with the act, two of which were hard for him to juggle.
Nealon was on SNL for nine seasons, from 1989 to 1995.
