Jamie Lee Curtis has revealed she refuses to waste another minute on “toxic people.”
The 67-year-old actress admitted that a milestone birthday completely changed how she views relationships and life in Hollywood.
The Oscar-winning star said turning 60 was a wake-up call that made her rethink who and what truly deserved her time.
Speaking to AARP, Curtis said the realisation that life is finite pushed her to cut negativity out of her world.
“I turned 60 and realised I was going to die sooner than later,” she explained.
“And that understanding meant I have no effing time to waste. No time to waste on toxic people, on relationships that don't serve me.”
The Halloween star, daughter of Hollywood legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, said she has always been aware of how unforgiving the entertainment industry can be, particularly when it comes to ageing.
She revealed that she has been mentally preparing to step back from the spotlight for decades.
“I’ve been self-retiring since I was 30,” she said.
“The industry I'm in is a cruel, cruel industry, particularly with ageing. There’s a dismissal of people. I watched it very much with my parents.”
Instead of fighting the process, True Lies actress said she has learned to embrace it and also the wrinkles and all.
The Freaky Friday star described showing her natural appearance as a form of “freedom”.
Curtis has also been vocal about the dangers of modern beauty culture, warning that filters, cosmetic procedures and AI are pushing unrealistic standards.
In a previous interview with The Guardian, she claimed the obsession with “filter face” is erasing natural beauty.
