The Hollywood is lamenting the death of Eric Dane amid a courageous battle with ALS.
On Thursday, February 19, the star succumbed to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 53.
For the unversed, ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells and causes loss of muscle control.
The veteran star announced the heart-breaking health diagnosis publicly 10 months prior to his death.
His family in a statement to People disclosed that he died in the presence of people he loved, among them were his wife and daughters, Billie and Georgia.
They called him a loving father and an ardent ALS supporter who was very hardworking in creating awareness and funding research.
Dane was remembered by co-workers and pal in Hollywood as the star of the renowned show, Grey, as the character of Dr. Mark Sloan, and in the Euphoria show, as Cal Jacobs.
His co-star in the Valentine's Day Ashton Kutcher penned on X, “Miss you, buddy. Let’s keep fighting the fight to solve ALS.”
Euphoria co-creator Sam Levinson told Variety, “I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. Working with him was an honour. Being his friend was a gift.“
John Stamos shared an image of together shooting, stating, “RIP, Buddy." adding the duo, "played brothers years ago in a beautiful movie called, Wedding Wars. Good guy. Too soon. Xo J."
Alyssa Milano, his Charmed co-star, gave an emotional tribute of remembering his humorous and tender side.
She went on to mark, "He loved the absurdity of things. He loved catching people off guard."
Nina Dobrev, who collaborated with him on Redeeming Love, cited ALS as being cruel and unforgiving.
Dane is survived by his two daughters whom he had with actress Rebecca Gayheart.
