The investigators looking into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie indicate that they are looking into the possibility of the 84-year-old being kidnapped.
This came as part of a possible revenge scheme since the motive behind the case remains unclear.
Nancy, the mother of the co-anchor of the Today show, Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1.
The Pima County Sheriff department has confirmed that even though the evidence is pointing to a kidnapping, the investigators have not yet been able to figure out the reason as to why she could have been targeted.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos informed the Daily Mail that surveillance showed images of a masked man outside Nancy's house in Tucson, Arizona.
The footage has been posted by the host on her official Instagram account and has multiple times pleded to return her mother.
Even though it is reported that authorities did not find out that monetary interests were the main motivation or money.
Savannah posted on Instagram, calling on the kidnapper, "Bring her home. You can never do the next right thing too late."
She added, "It's been two weeks since our mom was taken. And I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. And we still believe."
Moreover, the 54-year-old broadcaster mentioned, "I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is that it's never too late.
"You're not lost or alone. And it is never too late to do the right thing. And we are here. We believe. And we believe in the essential goodness of every human being."
It is pertinent to mention that conspiracy theories linked her old interview with Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein victim, to her mother's kidnapping.
