Abel Tesfaye, who is known by his famous persona The Weeknd, was speculated to be joining Bad Bunny and Travis Scott at the Super Bowl halftime this year.
Although the 35-year-old singer was expected at the big event, he did not make it and was busy somewhere else.
The Blinding Lights hitmaker shared a glimpse of himself gaming with other friends reportedly from his Japan trip on alleged spam account @gene.hackerman.
In the carousel, the Grammy winner was seen holding the gaming console in one of the pictures.
Fans flooded the comment section, asking Absel about his absence from the Big Game with one Instagram follower asking: “Yo Abel why u didn’t pull up to the bowl.”
Another netizen nodded with a similar remark, writing on the platform: “Real he could’ve performed kpop with Travis and Bad Bunny.”
Meanwhile, his spam account’s updates are speculated to be linked to something bigger coming up as the singer reportedly nears the retirement of his persona.
After releasing his studio album Hurry Up Tomorrow as The Weeknd, Abel appears to be closing the chapter after wrapping up his tour After Hours Til Dawn.
While the musical journey was expected to end in 2025, the Popular crooner announced an extension to the tour with new dates.
Moreover, a cryptic post sparked a rumour of Asia tour by the singer. Abel is yet to confirm the buzz officially.
