Hollywood icon Halle Berry has finally cleared the air on her engagement to singer-songwriter Van Hunt.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, the 59-year-old Oscar winner set the record straight after reports claimed she had turned down Van’s proposal.
“Well, there’s some confusion that (Van) asked to marry me, and I said no. No, that’s not the case,” she told the audience.
“I did not say no. We just don’t have a date.”
The Catwoman star went on to gush about Van, calling him “great,” and confirmed she had no hesitation when he popped the question.
“But, of course, I said I would marry him! He did put a little ring on it,” she added, flashing a stunning engagement ring featuring a large round centre stone.
The couple, who have been inseparable since April 2020, have kept much of their romance private.
Halle, who is mother to 17-year-old Nahla and 12-year-old Maceo, has been married three times before, including a high-profile marriage to French actor Olivier Martinez.
Last June, Van admitted the proposal was “still on hold,” jokingly encouraging fans to persuade Halle to give him an answer.
Halle is currently promoting her upcoming crime thriller Crime 101, co-starring Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, set to hit screens on 13 February.
