Nicki Minaj backs Donald Trump after ‘bullying’ row: 'I couldn’t stay silent'

Nicki Minaj has stunned fans by publicly backing Donald Trump.

The 43-year-old rapper said that she was pushed into supporting the US President after watching what she calls “relentless bullying” aimed at him.

Nicki, best known for hits like Super Bass and Starships, has become an unexpected supporter of the controversial leader.

She admitted that she felt a strong personal connection to the criticism he faced during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Speaking on The Katie Miller Podcast, she revealed that religious freedom was a key factor in her political shift, but it was Trump’s treatment that truly struck a nerve.

Tukoh Taka singer said watching the attacks against him felt painfully familiar.

“I saw the bullying, the lies, and it felt like I was watching my own story play out again,” she explained, adding that it reached a point where she could no longer stay silent.

The rapper, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago before moving to the US as a child, also hinted that her interest in politics has been building for some time. 

She admitted that during the last election campaign, events unfolding around Trump made her feel “pulled” towards a new calling beyond music.

Last week, she took her support a step further by joining Trump on stage in Washington DC, where she proudly declared herself his “number one fan”.

Unfazed by backlash, the outspoken star insisted criticism only fuels her loyalty.

The move has sparked fierce debate online, with fans divided over her bold political stance.
