“I saw the bullying, the lies, and it felt like I was watching my own story play out again,” she explained, adding that it reached a point where she could no longer stay silent.
The rapper, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago before moving to the US as a child, also hinted that her interest in politics has been building for some time.
She admitted that during the last election campaign, events unfolding around Trump made her feel “pulled” towards a new calling beyond music.
Last week, she took her support a step further by joining Trump on stage in Washington DC, where she proudly declared herself his “number one fan”.
