Guy Hovis dies amid weeks in care, ex-wife confirms

Guy Hovis The Lawrence Welk Show, singer died amid a prolonged battle at the age of 84.

On January 22 Ex-wife Ralna English, took to her official account and announced the news.

The 83-year-old mournfully shared that the Let It Be Me singer passed away after a long stay of weeks in the hospital.

She began in the Facebook post, “Guy has been in the hospital for several weeks. I spoke briefly with him on Monday and was deeply concerned.”

“He took a turn for the worse and it hurts me to tell you, but he died peacefully last night,” she penned.

Adding, “Needless to say, at this time we are all devastated and simply trying to cope with this tragic news.”

It is important to mention that Hovis career spanned over six decades, recording 15 albums.

Notably, the pair shared 15 years as a married couple from 1969 to 1984, which started from their debut on the show during a Christmas special in 1969.

Due to husband-and-wife strong presence host Lawrence Welk invited them back and eventually made them regulars.

The duo became one of the program’s most demanded performers, and carried their positions for more then a decade till 1982.

Even thought they divorced in 1984, the pair shared respect and were closely continuing to perform together for decades.
