‘General Hospital’ star Anthony Geary dead at 78
The actor was renowned for playing Luke Spencer
American acting legend Anthony Geary has passed away at the age of 78.
The actor was best known for starring in the daytime drama General Hospital.
The late icon played the memorable role of Luke Spencer on the show.
Anthony passed away in Netherlands on Sunday, as confirmed by his husband Claudio Gama.
The actor has passed away after undergoing an operation three days prior to his death.
Claudio told TV Insider “It was a shock for me and our families and our friends. For more than 30 years, Tony has been my friend, my companion, my husband”.
The 78-year-old rose to global fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s after starring in the hit drama and later went on to do many other projects.
Before his retirement, Anthony won a record eight Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The late star was born in 1947 in Utah and raised by Mormon parents. He went to study theater at the University of Utah then moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
