Ariana Grande proved to be the real-life Glinda “the Good.”
The Grammy-winning singer’s longtime vocal coach, Eric Vetro, revealed that Grande brought other actresses to him to prepare them for their auditions for Glinda in Jon M. Chu‘s movie, Wicked, musical adaptation.
“She actually encouraged some of the other girls and said, ‘You really should go see Eric and work on it with him,’” he told People.
Eric recalled bringing one of the girls to sing along with her. “Isn’t that amazing?” he marvelled at Grande’s kindness.
The vocal coach also reflected on Grande’s mom asking him if her daughter was “crazy.”
“‘Why is she bringing people over for you to help them?’” she asked Eric, to which he replied, “Well, because I think that’s just who she is. She’s very generous like that.”
Eric also spoke highly of how confident she is in herself, and that the Seven Rings singer loves Wicked so much “that she wanted the right person to get it.”
“But I couldn’t believe it,” Eric added.
The vocal coach even received a call from another actress whom Grande had recommended to him.
“I thought, ‘Wow, I can’t believe she’s supporting other girls auditioning for this role.’ That really shows the kind of person she is,” he said.
Grande went on to secure the role of Glinda, starring alongside Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, and earned her first Academy Award nomination earlier this year in the same category as her co-star.
