Glen Powell had one unforgettable audience member that he invited himself for his SNL hosting debut on Saturday, November 15, his UPS driver, Mitch.

During his opening monologue, the actor revealed that he flew Mitch in from his hometown after a promise gone delayed.

Powell had initially told Mitch in 2021 that he would be hosting Saturday Night Live alongside Top Gun: Maverick, only for COVID-related delays to cancel the opportunity.

“I was actually supposed to host four years ago for Top Gun: Maverick,” Powell recalled, explaining that Mitch had coincidentally arrived with a delivery as Powell celebrated the news with his family.

“He was like, ‘What is going on?’ and I was like, ‘I’m hosting SNL.’ And he was like, ‘Are you serious?’ And I was like, ‘Yep, Christmas episode, tune in!’” Powell shared

The Running Man star said they snapped a selfie to mark the moment, but the SNL dream was put on hold.

“For four years, this UPS driver was just going around saying, ‘Glen Powell is a liar!’” he joked. Finally, after being invited to host in 2025, Powell made it his mission to prove Mitch wrong.

“So to prove to Mitch that I am not a liar, I flew him all the way to New York,” he shared. “He thought it was a scam, but he still came and he is sitting in the audience tonight.”

The actor’s full-circle gesture brought laughter and warmth to the studio, turning a personal promise into a memorable SNL moment for both Powell and Mitch.
