Brad Pitt is opening up about his brief but unforgettable time working with the late Burt Reynolds on Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
In Jay Glennie’s new book, The Making of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Pitt described acting alongside Reynolds, before the legendary actor’s passing in September 2018 at age 82, as “one of the greatest moments I have ever had in this industry.”
“To spend time with Burt Reynolds over those days was just f------ everything, man,” Pitt recalled. “He was the guy and there will never be anybody like him.”
Reynolds was originally cast as George Spahn, the owner of the Spahn Movie Ranch, where Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth, encounters a group of women connected to Charles Manson.
Sadly, Reynolds passed away after rehearsing his scenes with Pitt, Dakota Fanning, and others, making these sessions his final performances.
Quentin Tarantino also reflected on the poignant moment in the book.
“The last performance Burt Reynolds ever gave was saying my lines when Brad acted with him, with me directing during our rehearsal. It was the last role Burt ever did," Tarantino recalled.
Following Reynolds’ death, Bruce Dern was cast to portray Spahn in the final film.
