English actress Rosamund Pike revealed a hilarious reason she went viral in China after learning the Chinese language from her children.
During her recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which aired on Friday, November 7, the Oscar-nominated actress shared that her kids taught her a Chinese proverb.
“And apparently that clip went viral around China,” Pike said. “And now I am recognised as the girl who tells fart jokes and speaks proverbs about farting.”
The Gone Girl alum recalled that over the summer, while she was performing in Justin Martin’s play Inter Alia at the National Theatre, people would bring her pillows and teddy bears that voiced that Chinese phrase.
Rosamund Pike shares two sons with her long-time partner, Robie Uniacke: Solo, born in 2012, and Atom, born in 2014.
The actress has revealed that both her children speak Mandarin Chinese, crediting their bilingual upbringing to Uniacke’s influence.
