The UK Government is completely behind King Charles after Andrew’s decision was announced on October 30.
The Palace released an official statement on Thursday announcing that the former prince will be stripped of all his titles and styles and will now be called “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor”.
The statement also mentioned that the former duke, who has renounced his titles on October 17, has been notified to vacate the Royal Lodge.
Speaking on the matter, trade minister Chris Bryant told BBC Breakfast that he is “delighted” that Andrew has been stripped of his titles.
“We warmly, I warmly support what the King is doing today”, Chris stated.
The Labour minister also said “I think the vast majority of people in this country will think that it's the right thing to do.”
He further said that the Parliament would look into the financial aspect of this and how the former prince had been getting his money from despite ceasing to be a working royal in 2019.
“I'm absolutely sure that the Royal household would want to co-operate with Parliament in anything that it wanted to do in that regard”, Chris added.
Last week the issue of Andrew’s residence at the Royal Lodge was raised in Parliament as UK MPs called to launch an inquiry into the situation which was backed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as well.
