Chris Pratt welcomes new obstacles and opportunities with his upcoming thriller, Mercy.
On Thursday, October 9, during his appearance at the New York Comic Con at the Javits Center, the actor revealed to PEOPLE details about his preparation for the new film.
Pratt stars as an LAPD detective racing against time to uncover the truth about his wife’s death after being accused of her murder.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star shared that the most difficult part of Mercy was spending time with law enforcement officers to gain a deeper understanding of his character.
“I had an opportunity to work with the LAPD and their homicide division, so I was able to go down and talk to those guys,” Pratt said.
The actor added that he performed stunts while working alongside the police.
“It was really incredible,” he admitted. “I mean, some of the stunt work we did was really great.”
Though for Pratt, performing stunts wasn’t the most challenging part of his training with the LAPD, in fact, he was thrilled to drive cop cars, “and do some cool bar fight stuff.”
“But the majority of the difficulty was just kind of hearing some of these stories and wow, it’s a real testament,” he said. “Like, we kind of take it for granted."
Mercy is set to hit theaters on January 23, 2026.
