Emma Stone, who recently made headlines as she graced the red carpets for her new movie, Bugonia, revealed the secret behind her name in a late night show interview.

The Bugonia star made an appearance at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on October 22 and revealed how her love for the Baby Spice from the 1900s pop group, Spice Girls has made an impact on her life.

While interviewing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 main female lead, the show host asked her about if her real name, Emily had any competition with other names.

The 36-year-old stated that “Not only was it in competition, but I actually adopted a stage name for, I would say, like six months.”

She disclosed that for six months, she was called Riley but due to her not being used to the name, she faced many difficulties.

The Hollywood diva said that even though the name was beautiful and cool, she suddenly was not able to adjust to it because it was nowhere to her original name, “'I cannot be Riley.' Like, it's such a... It came out of nowhere.”

Emma also added that her dream, when she was a kid was to become Emma Bunton because they both shared the same hair color also helped her choose the name, Emma, she reasoned, “I then changed it to Emma because it's close enough to Emily.”

Notably, the Golden Globe Awards winner was also reminded of the time when she was shooting for Malcolm in the Middle and they kept calling her and she never responded back.

“'Riley! Riley!' And I had no idea who they were talking to.” Ex of Andrew Garfield concluded.

For the unfamiliar, the actress is working on her upcoming project, which is the sequel of Cruella.
