Cardi B reveals emotional chat with Shakira helped her move on from Offset
Cardi B, fresh off the release of her second studio album Am I the Drama?, has opened up about a major source of support in her life.
The 32-year-old rapper recently revealed that she turned to pop icon Shakira for guidance as she struggled to cope with her split from Offset.
For those unfamiliar, the WAP hitmaker shares daughters Kulture, seven, and Blossom, 12 months, as well as son Wave, four, with the Migos rapper.
Notably, the former couple filed for divorce in July 2024, bringing their seven-year marriage to an end.
During an appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Cardi shared that she sought guidance from 48-year-old Shakira, who experienced her own highly publicised split from footballer Gerard Piqué in 2022.
“I was like, ‘How the f*** did you overcome this?’” the Up singer shared.
“And she’s like, ‘It’s going to happen.’ I was like, ‘It’ll never happen,’ and then it happened. It took some crying. It took some thoughts, scary thoughts. But I’m here, honey, I’m here — and I’m the strongest I’ve been.”
The American rapper admitted her emotional recovery took time, saying: “It took months for the heart to say, ‘You’re done.’ Because you could say it and take actions, but if you’re not done, you’re not done.”
Now expecting her fourth child, her first with NFL star Stefon Diggs, Cardi said she’s focused on raising her children to be “better than me.”

Cardi B reportedly began dating Stefon Diggs in October 2024, shortly after her split from Offset.
The pair were first spotted together at several events, sparking rumours of a budding romance.
By February 2025, their relationship seemed to be growing serious when they were seen celebrating Valentine’s Day together in Miami.
A few months later, in May 2025, she made their relationship in Instagram official, sharing affectionate photos of the two on a yacht, confirming what fans had already suspected.
Since then, their romance has appeared to flourish.
The couple made headlines again in September 2025 when Cardi revealed she is expecting her fourth child, her first with the New England Patriots wide receiver.
