Emma Watson, who was recently banned from driving, received the full support of her fans.
The 35-year-old actress, who rose to fame with her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series, admitted that she was stunned after her ban became headline news across the globe.
She was handed a six-month ban in July after being caught driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone, having already accumulated nine points on her licence.
What shocked Watson most was not the punishment itself, but the overwhelming reaction.
“I was getting phone calls. It was on the BBC, it was on international news! I was like, ‘My shame… it is everywhere,’” she said.
Despite the embarrassment, the Beauty and the Beast actress revealed that she was flooded with messages of support from people who had been through the same thing.
“So many reached out,” she confessed, adding that her limited driving experience, largely due to insurance restrictions while filming, likely contributed to her mistakes.
Speaking on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, she also laughed off the ordeal, explaining that she has now taken to cycling.
“I recently started riding a bicycle… and now it’s particularly fortuitous that I do,” she joked.
For those unfamiliar, the English actress has turned her focus away from Hollywood in recent times and is studying for a doctorate at Oxford.
Emma Watson took a prolonged hiatus from acting, after her final role to date in the 2019 film Little Women.
