Demi Lovato, who is preparing to release her ninth studio album It’s Not That Deep, has revealed how marriage has influenced her music.
The 33-year-old singer, who rose to fame as a Disney star before becoming a chart-topping pop sensation, made a candid confession to PAPER magazine.
While speaking to the outlet, she admitted she is no longer drawn to writing heavy emotional ballads, instead embracing a much brighter outlook.
“The tone of my life is lighter,” she confessed.
“I realised that when I started making this project. I tried writing those big emotional tracks I’ve always been known for, but they just didn’t resonate. I’m in a place where my energy feels very light – I just got married, and I wanted the music to reflect that.”
For those unaware, the Let It Go singer tied the knot with musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes earlier this year.
Lovato and her husband, Lutes, were first linked in August 2022, having met earlier that year in January while working together on her eighth studio album, Holy Fvck.
The Heart Attack hitmaker, who has endured plenty of highs and lows in the spotlight, admitted it has been a learning curve to shift her songwriting style.
“I had to learn how to write what was new to me. This album is a reflection of where I’m at personally,” she added.
Notably, the Grammy-nominated artist’s upcoming songs will showcase a side of her that fans have never heard before.
Demi Lovato’s biggest hit is widely considered to be Sorry Not Sorry from her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me .
Other major hits include Skyscraper, Heart Attack, and Cool for the Summer.
