Hollywood icon Kim Novak made an appearance at the Deauville American Film Festival in France to receive the Icon Award.
Being presented by Dancer-choreographer Benjamin Millepied, the festival said in a press release that the award is to "celebrate the depth and influence of her journey.”
They continued, "Far from the female stereotypes shaped by the industry, she asserted her individuality through a raw, instinctive performance style. Long misunderstood by critics, her body of work is now recognized as that of a bold and forward-thinking actress."
The win came just before the screening of the upcoming documentary called Kim Novak’s Vertigo from director Alexandre O. Philippe which "offers an intimate portrait of this fiercely independent Hollywood legend.”
After starring in several iconic films, her last film came out in 1991, called Liebestraum.
Novak also appeared at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival where she was honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award.
Presented by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, she said of the honorary win, “To be recognized for my body of work at this time in my life is a dream come true. I will treasure every moment I spend in Venice. It will fill my heart with joy.”
