Jamie Lee Curtis, who recently starred in the comedy film Freakier Friday, made an unexpected revelation about Princess Diana.
The 66-year-old actress took to Instagram on Sunday, marking the 28th anniversary of the princess’s tragic death, to share a bittersweet memory.
She recalled that she “almost met” Princess Diana but missed the moment because she dashed off for a toilet break.
The Oscar-winning actress revealed that Princess of Whales was expected to visit the Fierce Creatures set in 1997.
“She arrived with her sons while I was away using the restroom,” she wrote. “By the time I got back, she was already walking away.”
After the incident, Curtis sent a heartfelt message to Kensington Palace, explaining her absence and praising the princess’s kindness.
To her amazement, the Halloween actress received a handwritten response the very next day.
Diana, then 36, graciously thanked Curtis for writing and assured her she understood “nature calling.”
Tragically, the chance to meet never came, as just two months later, the mother of Princes William and Harry was killed in a Paris car crash.
Reflecting on the loss, The Scream Queen said she turned to a book on “insight meditation” and thought of Diana’s bravery and humanity.
Jamie Lee Curtis has only been married once. She tied the knot with actor and filmmaker Christopher Guest in December 1984, and the two have remained together ever since.
