Frank Caprio, who was notable for showing compassion and kindness, died at the age of 88 on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

The news of his sad passing was confirmed through his official social media accounts, announcing the judge “passed away peacefully” after losing battle to “pancreatic cancer.”

The statement highlighted his “compassion, humility and unwavering belief in the goodness of people” which pushed him to empathise with those in his court.

Caprio recently took to Facebook to share about a “setback” after being admitted to hospital, requesting people to “remember me in your prayers.”

During his time in the courtroom, the Caught in Province host developed a signature nature which set him apart from other judges.

His short segments of hearing were popular on Youtube with clips garnering more than 1 billion views on different platforms.

Caprio was a staunch believer of “With liberty and justice for all,” insisting that it means “justice should be accessible to everyone. However it is not.”

Amongst the most popular clips are those where he invited children to help in giving a verdict on their parents.

The comment section of the politician’s obituary was filled with wishes from devastated fans for the departed soul.

One user admitted that the news is “Heartbreaking. Never wanted to hear this.”

Another wished for the former chief judge, writing: “May you rest in peace Judge Caprio. You were an amazing and compassionate man.”

A third netizen noted that “The world has become a lot poorer place without him.. a powerful ray of hope was lost… prayers for his soul to rest in peace..”

Who was Judge Frank Caprio married to?

Frank Caprio leaves behind his wife Joyce, five children, grand and great grandchildren. The deceased took retirement in 2023 from the bench after serving for nearly four decades.
