Eminem’s documentary, Stans, gives insight into the more raw, intimate details of the outwardly tough and untouchable rap legend.
The Mockingbird singer has always been vocal about the massive soft spot he has for his only daughter Hailie Jade McClintock, and discussed how she was also the driving force behind his sustained withdrawal from drugs.
In a snippet in the film, the 8 Mile star opened up about his life-threatening drug overdose incident from 2007, which landed him in a hospital.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, recalled waking up with tubes attached to him, and upon recovering enough to go home, feeling like he was going to die if he didn’t do something.
The Till I Collapse rapper then noted the turning point in his life, "I had this video that they brought me because I missed Hailie's first guitar recital," which occurred because of his love for Hailie, 29.
He further disclosed how he got emotional at the time, saying, "The amount of guilt that I felt, I cried when I saw it because I was like, 'Oh my God, I missed that.'"
The incident kicked off a pivotal realisation, that he did not want to miss any more of his daughter’s milestone moments from that moment on.
Eminem has been sober since 2008, and celebrated 16 years off of substances in April of last year on his social media.
Eminem revealed in his song Legacy, that he was on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
