Sydney Sweeny is no stranger to public criticism and yet again she made news with her new ad.
The actress, who rose to fame for her roles in shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus, starred in a jeans ad for the brand American Eagle.
She infamously starred in the ad where she said she has “great jeans”, which has been received negatively by public as the masses believe it is a commentary on racial supremacy.
A fan wrote that the ad creators “somehow expect audiences to not interpret this visual as a euphemism for eugenics and white supremacy?”.
The 27-year-old says “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color… my genes are blue”.
Many criticised the ad as one said “one of the loudest and most obvious racialized dog whistles we've seen and heard in a while.”
After American Eagle shared a statement following the controversy, Sydney has now broken her silence.
The actress shared a story on her Instagram with featured pink flowers and a white heart drawn upon it.
