Sam Neill makes emotional statement after heartbreaking loss

Sam Neill took to social media over the weekend to share a heartfelt tribute following the loss of a cherished companion.

The 77-year-old actor posted an emotional video paying tribute to his longtime vineyard friend, Magda.

In the clip, the Jurassic Park star was seen cradling the black-and-white duck.

'SAD DAY. Very upset to hear that in my absence, dear old Magda, my beloved duck, passed away this week,' he captioned the post.

The award-winning actor also revealed that the duck had recently surprised everyone by successfully hatching two lively ducklings.

He added, “She was a miracle old duck — very late in life she finally hatched some eggs and raised two little hell-raisers.”

Notably, the sad news reached to Sam while he was abroad.

He revealed that a team member named Bruce found Magda peacefully resting in the long grass.

Furthermore, the Untamed actor shared the fond memories of their final moments together.

“This was my last time with her a few weeks back,” he wrote.

For those unfamiliar, the emotional tribute came after a challenging period for Sam.

Last year, he was in remission following treatment for stage-three blood cancer.
