Before David Corenswet became Superman, Henry Cavill had been the Man of Steel for long.
However, the way Henry was replaced by his successor was done in a “terrible” way, according to the director.
James Gunn, who was assigned to make a new Superman after a string of flops, revealed how he broke the news to Henry, who was prematurely told by Warner Bros that he would be returning as the superhero.
The filmmaker revealed that he had to sit down with the British actor and tell him the news.
“It’s terrible, believe it or not, the day we were dealing with trying to figure out if we could take the job at DC Studios, the day the deal closed, all of a sudden, they were announcing that Henry was back”, James said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
James also said “It was really unfair to him and a total bummer”.
Speaking of Henry’s response, the director aid he took the news like “absolute gentleman”.
