Teddi Mellencamp opened up about why she wasn't aware of her cancer progression.
For the unversed, in April, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum revealed that her melanoma has escalated to stage four.
During her candid conversation with Glamour, the 44-year-old podcast host discussed why it's important to have a strong support system behind your back who can speak for you and is concerned about your health, in an interview published on Thursday, July 17.
In the chat, the former RHOBH actress mentioned that despite having regular checkups, her doctor wasn’t able to identify that her disease had metastasized to her lungs and brain, saying, “When you go to a doctor, you just assume that’s it... At first, I didn’t even really do the research on melanoma... But there’s a difference between self-diagnosing yourself and being an advocate for your own health.”
“I never really thought about it because I was like, ‘I go to a doctor every three months. Why wouldn’t they get me checked?,’ she went on to add.
The All In by Teddi founder, who went under the knife seventeen times for her skin cancer, told the outlet that her “highest melanoma on my shoulder was stage one”, but despite that, scans weren't done, as a result her condition became worse.
Teddi Mellencamp exchanged vows with filmmaker Matt Robertson for the first time on June 3, 2006. However, the couple parted ways legally in 2010.
