Without ever joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Tom Cruise has become the highest grossing lead actor in Hollywood.
The new lists with highest-grossing lead actors shows the 63-year-old as the only one in the top 10 who did not achieve his milestone with superhero films and instead he resorted to such archetypes as Mission: Impossible or Top Gun.
Most of the MCU actors and actresses dominated the list.
The top position is secured by Scarlet Johansson after Jurassic World: Rebirth opened with an overwhelming high count of $318 million worldwide.
Other Marvel veterans including Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth also rank high underscoring the franchise’s box office dominance.
Still, the Oscar-Award winner has prospered on original action movies and franchises over 30 years old, as Top Gun: Maverick (2022) grossed $1.496 billion, and Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Passed over $571.1 million.
The Mission: Impossible the final reckoning is the most recent film by Tom Cruise and is performing well at the box office with a worldwide gross exceeding $577 million till now.
Tom Cruise is dad to three children: Bella, Connor and Suri. Cruise and his ex-wife Nicole Kidman adopted Bella and Connor in 1992 and 1995, respectively, and the actor welcomed daughter Suri with ex-wife Katie Holmes in 2006.
