Johnny Depp and Amber Heard officially settled their long legal battle with a mutual agreement, but the intense media scrutiny and public fallout seemed to leave lasting scars on their careers in Hollywood.
In 2022, the Hollywood starlet accused her ex-husband Depp of abuse in a $100 million lawsuit.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star strenuously denied the allegations and took a stand in his $100 million defamation trial against Heard.
The legal drama shook the showbiz industry, and both stars faced withdrawal from their ongoing projects.
Depp was eventually recast in the Fantastic Beasts series by Mads Mikkelsen, but in a recent interview with The Telegraph, he recalled his Hollywood “dumping” period.
Although he had already filmed a scene for the franchise’s second film, The Crimes of Grindelwald, in 2018, he said, “It literally stopped in a millisecond.”
“Like while I was doing the movie,” Depp shared with the publication. “They said we’d like you to resign. But what was really in my head was that they wanted me to retire.”
Depp recalled that he responded, “‘F*** you. There are far too many of me to kill. If you think you can hurt me more than I’ve already been hurt, you’re gravely mistaken.”
