When Sunflower was released all the way back in 2018, little did its creators know that it would become one of the greatest hits of the 21st century.

The song fuses elements of hip-hop, R&B as well as dream pop and first came out as part of the soundtrack of the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

It runs for two minutes and thirty-eight seconds and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, giving its singers Post Malone and Swae Lee the third and first number-one singles of their respective careers.

The two were also nominated for Best Pop Duo at the 2020 Grammy Awards and their track achieved Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Diamond certification twice.

However, Sunflower’s latest achievement might not have been expected by its most avid listeners.

According to Chart Data, it has now surpassed Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road as the most-streamed song ever in the United States.

Sunflower has now been streamed almost 4 billion times across various platforms and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
