Sabrina Carpenter, who is known for creating chart-topping hits, broke silence after her new solo Manchild climbs to first place on Billboard Top 100.
The 26-year-old singer was recently called out for the album cover of Man's Best Friend which was deemed “disgusting” by many fans.
Meanwhile, the Espresso hitmaker is using her humour and playful banters to respond after achieving the milestone.
Chart Data announced on X (formerly Twitter), declaring: “Manchid is the first new solo #1 hit on the Hot 100 by a female artist since Please Please Please.”
“Both by Sabrina Carpenter,” the outlet added.
The On My Way hitmaker left fans guessing by passing a cryptic remark: “I had a funny response but I’m just gonna say thank you <3.”
However, the playful banter did not sit well with many as one user replied: “That wasn’t funny at all.”
Another netizen poked fun at the songstress by sarcastically calling her “the joke.”
A third one speculated that Sabrina wanted to call out the outlet for not saying “first female since Mariah Carey in January to chat #1 on Hot 100,” as she “is a LAMB and loves Mariah.”
In another post, the Read your Mind crooner got back at a fan who questioned her Man’s Best Friend for being only about “sex.”
She sweetly replied: “girl yes and it is goooooood”
Although the Grammy winner was criticised for fuelling misogynistic stereotypes, Sabrina fired back at the hate by saying: “Female artists have been shamed forever.”
She declared: “My message has always been clear. If you can’t handle a girl who is confident in her own sexuality, then don’t come to my shows.”
