Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly heartbroken over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to name their daughter Lilibet, a name deeply personal to the late monarch.

Born on June 4, 2021, in California, Princess Lilibet Diana’s name was publicly framed as a tribute to the Queen’s childhood nickname. But insiders claim the Sussexes may not have sought proper permission.

According to The Daily Mail, the late Queen confided in an aide after the announcement, saying: “I don't own the palaces, I don't own the paintings, the only thing I own is my name.”

She then added, in a quiet, five-word remark: “And now they’ve taken that.”

While Harry has insisted the Queen was supportive of their choice, royal biographer Robert Hardman revealed in his King Charles biography that Her Majesty was “as angry as I’ve ever seen her” over the incident.

The BBC also reported that palace sources claimed she was “never asked.”

Though the Queen met Lilibet only a few times before her passing, Harry recalled their 2022 meeting in Spare, describing the Queen as “bemused” by her great-grandchildren.
