Shakira, who is known for creating chart-topping hits like Hips Don’t Lie, made a "heartbreaking" announcement about her upcoming show.
After headlining her record-breaking Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, the 48-year-old singer was supposed to perform in Washington, DC on Saturday night.
In recent turn of events, it was announced that the Chantaje hitmaker will no more be performing for the Washingtonians.
The Nationals Park revealed on Friday: “Due to complications with the previous show in Boston, Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C” in time.
The notice also contained a statement from the La Bicicleta hitmaker, who admitted being “sad and heartbroken” for not being able to make it to the concerts.
This came after two back-to-back musicales of Thursday and Friday were also called off. It was reported by TMZ that the “structural elements” of the events did not meet the set standards.
The news sparked a massive outrage among the Waka Waka hitmaker’s fans.
One frustrated user on X called out the songstress: “this is just her fault, cancelling your concert on the show day is just unacceptable.”
Another user advised Shakira to open her eyes and “see that your team is your biggest enemy.”
Many fans speculate that the abrupt decision was made because of “low ticket sales,” as one netizen highlighted that it’s “obvious at this point its because she cant sell out.”
