A snippet of Taylor Swift’s song Look What You Made Me Do was featured for a few minutes on the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, but the re-recording has already sent swifties into a frenzy.
The feature came at the height of anticipation from her fans, who had been speculating the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) for months now, by psychoanalyzing the 14-time Grammy winner’s every little move.
However, now that a second snippet of the electropop hit has been released, netizens are divided among their opinions of her vocals on the track.
Taylor, who has also re-recorded her albums Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and released them for a second time in their entirety, made fans question if she was as passionate about the songs the second time around.
"Sorry y'all, but why does this sound like she lost all her hatred and angst that this song demands?" one netizen noted.
Another user wrote, "Guys, she’s not angry anymore, the song sounds sarcastic now. That means she’s not mad anymore, just mocking."
A third added, "Where is the rage? This was my reason for loving the album. She sounds like she forgave them."
On the flip side, some swifties defended her, saying, "I adore Taylor and she has every right to change her songs because they are hers.”
The Delicate singer was also praised by a vast majority of her fandom who simply noted their excitement over the song.
No, Taylor has not released Reputation (Taylor’s Version) as of yet, but fans speculate that she might announce the release date during the American Music Awards on May 27.
