Sadie Sink attended the 'Meet the Nominees' press junket for her nomination as the leading lady in John Proctor Is the Villain at the 2025 Tony Awards.
Reflecting on her role as Shelby Holcomb, she said, "Shelby has a real emotional maturity that I don't even know if she's aware of yet.”
"That was always something I kind of related to; of growing up a little bit faster," the Stranger Things star added. "It's just something that I've felt really connected to."
Explaining how she took more risks in the play, portraying her character through comedy, Sink elaborated, "I like Shelby's commitment to bits. She's very well versed in pop culture, and when she wants to go along with a bit, she'll really go for it. So I like that."
About the production overall, she claimed, "It's meant the world to be a part of this production,. I started out in theater when I was 10 years old on Broadway, so returning just in and of itself was such a big deal for me and so meaningful to do it with a show like John Proctor. But for it to be received this way? It's just beyond any of our wildest dreams."
