The high-octane Mission: Impossible sequel, featuring legendary acting by Tom Cruise, is coming to an end, and Simon Pegg is opening up about his feelings toward the film franchise.
The 20 years of the Mission: Impossible saga will culminate with the upcoming sequel Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, set to screen at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14.
The 55-year-old actor Simon Pegg, who played Benji Dunn, a close friend of Ethan Hunt in the MI series, became emotional while reflecting on the journey.
Pegg said on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with The National Lottery on Virgin Radio UK that MI is the biggest film he's ever been part of, in terms of location, production, and more.
Pegg noted that although the movie is widely known for its thrilling stunts, at its core, it carries a deep emotional weight.
“Obviously, everyone always talks about the stunts, but at the heart of the movie, it's incredibly sort of emotional,” Pegg said.
The actor grew emotional as he spoke about how reflecting on his 20-year journey with the film makes him cry.
“I shed a tear, and I think partly because it's been 20 years of my life, and partly because it genuinely gets to you, there are some real moments in it,” Pegg confessed emotionally.
However, the host, Chris, noticed Pegg starting to tear up during the conversation.
“I can see you glazing over,” replied the host.
